This find stirred up a fair bit of excitement within me. It’s a diamond… about 0.5 carats in size. I took it to a jeweler to see if it is a real diamond or some cheap imitation. As it turns out, it’s some cheap imitation. Dang!

If it were a real diamond, I would have sold it to buy a macro lens. So the bad photo can be blamed on the person who cheaped out on the “diamond”.

Just in time for tax season, I found this calculator on the sidewalk. It works just fine and features buttons, dirt and a screen. It is solar-powered, which is a technology you may have read about only in science fiction novels.
